What did Kenley get for her 8 week birthday?

8 weeks.  Wow.  Time is flying by.  It feels like just the other day we were coming home from the hospital.  The thought of having to go back to work, well it just seemed so far in the future.  And now, here I am, only 9 days away from returning to the office.  I cannot even think about the first few days that I have to drop her off at daycare.

The daycare she is attending is brand new and will officially open on August 3rd.  I found this out on Tuesday, so I had to scramble to figure out what I will do with our little peanut that first week I go back to work and Andrew goes to his new command.  Luckily, July is slow at my mom's school and she is able to take the week off.   As much as this late opening was a surprise, I think it will help me with returning back to work.  That week I can call home all I want and check in a bazillion times...  maybe have my mom meet me for lunch with Kenley so I can see her and feed her.  Oh I have to stop thinking about it.  It makes me so sad to think about being away from her for that long.

On the flip side I am looking forward to being back in the office and being nerdy again.  I thrive on technical geekdom.  This is just an example of it.  See what I mean? Nerd alert, indeed.

Anywhooooo, back to Kenley's 8 week birthday.  I think she has been going through a growth spurt.  Wednesday was what I consider a "sleep day" where she sleeps all day and just wakes up to eat.

It was like I had given her baby benadryl or something.

She is also eating more frequently the past couple days -- of course, right after I posted about how she was on a more regular eating schedule.  She loves to babble and smile, especially in the mornings.  She also loves to stand up, of course with the assistance of two hands under her armpits.  She is getting really good at it, I wouldn't be surprised if she walked early.  She seems to already know how to use her legs, she is just practicing the motions at this point.  She is following noises more with her eyes and trying to see where the sounds come from. She STILL hates the car seat.  No matter what we do, she cries when we are in the car.  I think she just wants some company in the backseat.
Right after this picture was taken, she cried.

So what did she get for her 8 week birthday?

HER DAD!  Wooooooot!

Andrew came home from San Diego this morning!

It has been a long day of catching up on sleep (for him) and learning who his baby is all over again.  She is very different from when he last saw her but I think in a few days it will be like he never left.  We are so glad he is back!
Now it's time to get ready for the beach for a couple days and then Kenley gets to meet her other grandparents! Yay!
