Kenley's summer is off to a great start. Memorial Day weekend was spent with her grandparents, laying on the beach, playing at the playground, and enjoying the treats of summer.
Memorial Day is a lot fun in Virginia Beach, it feels right to go the beach, jump in the pool, have dinner outside and of course enjoy the annual Pungo Strawberry Festival!! This will be the third time that my parents and I have been to the festival. We missed out last year because **someone** was only a week old and it was HoT. Finally, Andrew was able to go with us and check out the interesting mix of country/festival that is the Strawberry Festival. The weather didn't cooperate on our trip out there, we were hoping the rain would stop as we approached. We had a few showers while we were there but it was much better than it being 105 degrees with high humidity.
I took my parents to the beach on Dam Neck base and we enjoyed a couple hours of the sun while Kenley played with her bucket in the sand, sat in her chair and tested out the water. She isn't too sure about the waves yet, but we will keep working on it. She loved the sand and had a lot fun with her beach ball.
She loved eating the watermelon in slices, trying to assert her independence -- no more of that little cut up baby food!!
We played at the playground (where Grammy almost fell off the swings) before the heat got to be too much.
She fed the shark some pine cones.
She loved having her Grammy and PapPap to play with.
We all left at the same time Tuesday morning, as Kenley and I headed to babyschool/work and Grammy and PapPap headed back home. When we got home that night, I think Kenley was sad that her visitors had gone. I must be boring! I can only hope that the rest of the summer is as fun as Memorial Day weekend was.
