5 week birthdays, do they count?

Kenley came into this world 5 weeks ago today.  She has changed so much since she was born. She is starting to smile in response to me smiling at her even though it's not yet consistent; she can focus on objects and loves to look at ceiling fans; and she loves to hum and grunt as she eats, sleeps and poops.   There are times that I am not sure she realizes she is only 5 weeks old.  She can push herself up into a standing position while in the burping position on my shoulder, she can hold her head up very well for an infant and she has even fake rolled over.  This rolling over business, I believe it comes with a bit of help from my big butt...  She has been sleeping in the bed with me the past week or so (I didn't think I would do this but I have to admit, I LOVE IT) and I witnessed on a few occasions her kicking her legs and going from her back to her side to her belly --  I aid in the process by providing a small slope in the mattress where my fat ass is laying.  Haha.  I can't figure out if she is just awesome or if I am just that fat that it's like rolling down a hill for her, almost effortless.

Kenley was in Northern Virginia for a couple weeks and got to meet Xtina, Bevington, Torbs (or Petes, not sure if Torbs still works now that she is married) AND Lily;  her cous Erika, Grandma Lucy, Aunt Karen, Shannon and Chris, Aunt Cathy and even Grandpa Porter stopped in for a visit! There were many other meetings, including the Babes,  the Betsy Lane peeps &  Franklin and Chantilly Academy friends.

Kenley and I had our first dinner outing last night with Nosika, a friend from work.  I was nervous for some reason... we have done lots of lunches and plenty of shopping adventures in the day time but dinner just seemed daunting and like it could pose some problems.  We headed over to Baker's Crust in greenbrier and all 3 of us had a lovely dinner.  I especially enjoyed the mojito I had, so glad to be able to have a beverage again.

Today we met with Michealaine and enjoyed a nice casual lunch.  I got to hear about Mitch and her man's new house and I am so excited to see it.  Kenley was great, had a small snack at the table (a quick boob snack) and then slept a bit.

We came back home after a speedy trip through Harris Teeter and she finally took a long nap while in my baby wrap.  The past week or two she has been sleeping really well as long as you hold her but the minute you put her down, her eyes pop open.  It has been frustrating the past few days but she was tired enough that I put her down for a minute to put on the baby wrap.  My house was getting a bit cluttered but with her in the wrap I was able to put away laundry, take out the trash, do the dishes, wipe down the counters and a few baby chores all while she napped away.

I feel so good about it that I don't care if anything else gets done today or tomorrow!  Such a great baby! Here are a couple pictures from this morning.   :)

All the birthdays count.

Zach slept in the same bed with me till he was probably three or four. He's twelve and I still try to get away with it when I can. It's so easy to sleep like that! You know right where they are and if they're ok...and they smell like love. Num num num.

Yes indeed; 5 weeks b-days count! Blake just had his 1/2 year b-day. Blake and I are excited to come meet Kenley sometime soon. She is just precious!
