And.... she HAS arrived!

Sorry for the delay, I am so sleep deprived and busy that today has been the first time I have had the time or even wanted to get on the computer.

Everything is going very well, last night Kenley slept for 4 straight hours which felt fantastic (for me).   She is feeding well, sleeping a lot and really good at being cute.

Andrew is back in San Diego, which makes me sad, but I am so glad he was able to be present for the birth.  I think it has changed both of us a lot.  The whole birth experience was super traumatic so I will not be reliving that here... well, maybe at a later date when it doesn't seem so fresh of a memory.   A short recap of the experience -- I got to Portsmouth around 5:45 am and was in labor/delivery room by 7:30am.  Progression was slow, my water broke at 9ish that night and my epidural wore off around 2am.  Basically I had a natural birth, not by choice...   Kenley arrived at 6am on 5/21 and weighed in at 9lbs and 8oz.  What a chunker!  I really did not think I would be in labor for almost 24 hours, it was probably one of the most exhausting/overwhelming/traumatic experiences of my life.  We were in the hospital until Sunday because of some high bilirubin levels.   It was so hard to put my baby under those lights for a full day and only be able to hold her for 15 minutes out of every hour.  She hated those lights until we gave her a pacifier which seemed to help with soothing herself.  It still makes me so sad to look at the pictures of her under those lights.  But she did great and on her check up the next day, her bilirubin count was good enough to not be re-admitted.  I just wish people would stop sticking her with needles and taking her blood.

Tomorrow she will be one week old and she goes to her one week appointment! Here are some pictures we took over the past week, enjoy!

OMG Allison....Kenley is beautiful! I have been anxiously awaiting an update about her birth. I'm so sorry you had such a long labor but by the looks of her...it was well worth it. You and Andrew do good work! I cannot wait to see her in person. Please bring her to No.Va. ASAP.
xoxo Sra. Williams

I'm so glad Andrew got to be there for the big event. I know it was tough on both of you but she is absolutely amazing. It was wonderful to meet your Mom and your sister and I can not get enough snuggles with baby K. I think Izzy misses Gibbs so anytime you want us to watch him again just let us know.

*hugs to you both*

She is gorgeous !!! I know what you mean about the lights. my daughter had to be under them for 24 hours as well and they kept coming in and poking her with needles on her little foot. I had to leave the room it killed me. Im glad she is better though and I am so happy for you to finally have your little baby.

I'm sorry you had such a rough time in labor, that's an exhausting way to start. Sounds like you've got the hang of it really well already. It's wonderful that Andrew got to experience the big (loooong) day and be there to see his daughter being born, and for you to have the support of your ever lovin' man, hooray!
I would say get some rest, etc, but this is five weeks later that I'm commenting, and you seem to be doing well.
I'm happy for you, Allison!
